Established in 1934, USP is a public university maintained by the State of São Paulo and affiliated with the Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Innovation. The talent and dedication of its faculty, students, and staff have been recognized by various global rankings designed to measure university quality through diverse criteria, particularly those related to scientific productivity.

 

This performance—built over more than nine decades of an intense pursuit of excellence—allows USP to join a select group of world class institutions. Its undergraduate offerings consist of 324 courses across all fields of knowledge, distributed among 43 teaching and research units with over 60,000 students. The graduate program comprises 266 programs, with approximately 30,000 enrolled students. Currently, USP is responsible for nearly 20% of Brazil’s scientific output.

 

To carry out its activities, USP maintains several campuses located in the cities of São Paulo, Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, and São Carlos, in addition to teaching units, museums, and research centers situated outside these areas and in various other municipalities.

The School of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, and Actuarial Science at the University of São Paulo (FEAUSP) is a public teaching and research institution globally recognized for the excellence of its academic output and its courses, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

 

With over 75 years of history, FEAUSP was established to prepare professionals in administration, economics, and accounting to meet the needs of Brazil’s major urban centers. At the time, the country was emerging from World War II and undergoing a process of economic democratization. Its founding objective, which remains to this day, is to train professionals who contribute to and make a positive difference in society.

 

Decades after its creation, FEA is a national and international benchmark in its fields of study. By aligning its activities with the high standards of the University of São Paulo and combining knowledge of the Brazilian reality with the methodological frameworks of the most renowned international institutions, the school stands out among its peers in the training of economists, administrators, and specialists in accounting and actuarial science.

The Department’s mission is to develop knowledge in the field of Economics and to educate citizens capable of thinking through economic problems holistically and acting as ethical professionals. Consequently, the current economics curriculum seeks to provide future professionals with an education that views economic sciences as an integral part of the relationships between human beings and social groups. The graduate program strives for research excellence and the training of professionals who will contribute to the country’s development.

 

The Department of Economics at USP currently has approximately one thousand undergraduate and graduate students who have access to a complete university infrastructure. The faculty is of the highest qualification: over 60 professors holding PhDs many with academic training abroad—who are dedicated to the improvement of teaching, the advancement of knowledge, and its practical applications for society.

 

As a result of the excellence of both faculty and students, the Economics program is consistently top-rated by specialized publications. Furthermore, the Department’s Graduate Program received a score of 7 (the maximum possible score) in the most recent CAPES triennial evaluation.

 

The Department’s vision is to strengthen its position as a world-class teaching and research center, deeply rooted in our history, contributing to the socioeconomic and sustainable development of the country. IME/USP – INSTITUTE OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS

The Institute of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of São Paulo is dedicated to teaching, research and innovation, and extension in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs supported by a highly qualified faculty and student body. Its research activities span central areas such as bioinformatics, neuromathematics, and mathematics education. In addition to its academic activities, the Institute promotes outreach initiatives aimed at the external community. These initiatives include professional development courses, workshops for public school teachers, and mathematics and computing courses during the academic recess period. The Institute also provides statistical consulting and free software support to researchers, companies, and public institutions. Furthermore, it organizes exhibitions of mathematical objects to disseminate mathematical concepts and enrich the learning experience of students and the general community.

The Foundation Institute for Economic Research (FIPE) is a private-law, non-profit organization established in 1973. Its primary objectives include supporting public or private teaching and research institutions, with a particular focus on the Department of Economics at the School of Economics, Business Administration, and Accounting of the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP). Today, it holds a prominent position in the fields of education, consulting projects, research, and the development of economic and financial indicators.
